Fitkidz Gymnastics Rules

The beginning of all sport starts here! Gymnastics, recognized by the International Olympic Committee as a foundation sport, provides young athletes with a head start into sports. Our CanGym/Gymnastics For All classes develop fundamental sports skills and movement patterns; landings, static positions, mobility, rotations, swing, springs and object handling all progress. Through the development of these fundamental movement patterns children develop a full range of physical and motor abilities required by every sport (endurance, strength, power, flexibility, agility, balance, coordination and speed).

CANGYM is a Gymnastics Program concentrating on Progressions.  We will be teaching skills on all apparatus  (bars, floor, balance beam, Tumble Track, Trampoline, Vault) following the nationally recognized CAN GYM program.  Approximately 30 skills are presented in each level, covering 12 different stages. This program is for beginner to Advanced Gymnast.  Athletes will receive a achievment certificate at the end of each session.
A National Skill Development Program for recreational gymnasts. The Cangym program includes three levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold.  Each level consists of four different badge levels.  The groups of skills have been selected to ensure a clear progression from one badge level to the next.  All athletes must master the skills in each level before moving on to the next as each skill can be considered a building block for more advanced gymnastics. We offer a CANGYM (1-4 BRONZE) program for children training 1 hour/week and an advanced CANGYM program (SILVER) training 2 hours/week.

The Interclub level is for children who would like to participate at a more advanced recreational level of gymnastics.  Routines on all apparatus will be choreographed and gymnasts will take part at 1-2 meets throughout the season.  This level of gymnastics is for children 8 years of age and older. An annual training commitment of 3 hours/week is required.  The Interclub Program gives girls the opportunity to work towards showcasing the skills and routines that they have been working on in their regular classes at invitational interclub competitions during the spring time of each year.  If your child shows some aptitude for gymnastics, and would enjoy the challenge of friendly competition, this program would be ideal. The coaches can help your child progress through the stages of learning new skills on the different events.  This program also allows previous competitors to stay involved at the sport of Gymnastics as there are two Interclub levels; Traditional (beginner-intermediate level) and Performance plus (Intermediate to advanced levels).  The athletes begin their training in September and continue through until June, with a break during the Christmas holidays as well as during March Break. Fitkidz is hosting an Interclub Meet February 16/17th.
